Debottlenecking the supply chain for floating wind foundations

Windsteel Technologies emerges as a collaborative effort between Odfjell Oceanwind AS and Prodtex AS, aiming to adress what is expected to be one of the biggest bottlenecks in scaling the floating offshore wind industry: Low cost and high-capacity manufacturing of foundations for floating wind turbines.

Windsteel Technologies is established based on a realization that the manufacturing of floating offshore wind foundations will require an approach to industrial production that differs from what exists today in the supply chain. The required mindset is similar to that of automotive and aerospace manufacturing rather than traditional ship building and offshore yards.

If floating offshore wind shall become a relevant source of energy in the future, we need to dramatically reduce the costs, but also increase the scale of each project. And we need to do this without sacrificing quality.
